The Sheetz – Girard Electrify America station was the 9th stop on my trip to explore the charging sites across Ohio, and the first of day 2. (This station opened in March 2019). [Note: From September 2023 until TBD this site is offline due to a rebuild of the Sheetz location.]
Accessibility
The Sheetz here is located off I-80 at exit 226. The gas station with the chargers is about 0.2 miles northwest of the highway on Salt Springs Rd. The units themselves are placed on the south side of the parking lot, farthest away from the building; on the right as you enter the parking lot. The EVSE placement does not allow for pull-through parking.
Amenities
Dining options include: Sheetz, Waffle House, McDonalds, Dunkin’
Shopping options include: None
Car-related services (windshield cleaning, air): Sheetz gas station here
Concentration
This is a baseline 4 charger site for Electrify America. This station is the pull/back into configuration. I didn’t have an issue connecting the Polestar 2 with the driver side port. Front fender mount port locations might have a harder time getting the cables to reach.
Location
This stop is on I-80 covering this major east/west corridor. This site can support travel between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, although not on a direct route between the two cities. If traveling only on I-80, it would be a stretch to make the next turnpike stop just east of Toledo.

Speed
Electrify America has chargers that support the fastest speeds available today. The sites support both 350kW and 150kW stations and are well equipped to handle the current electric cars and those yet to come. The ‘made in August of 2018’ Signet charging units have been supporting most Ohio locations for 5 years already.
Summary
This was the first stop on my second day of travel. Covering 115 miles from my overnight stop to this location took the battery down to 47%. With it still a little cold, I managed a peak speed of 103kW. A quick 5-minute stop and I was ready to move on. It was sad to see this site is currently out of service due to the Sheetz being closed. I’m not sure why my calculated cost continued to track below the rated fees.
What I paid for this stop:
Total Cost: $2.88
Total kWh: 8.354
Time: 5 minutes 36 seconds
Average Charge Speed: 100 kW
Cost per kWh: $0.34
