The Meijer – Cincinnati Electrify America station was the 5th stop on my trip to explore the charging sites across Ohio. (This station opened in May 2022, which is why you see the newer Signet units here).
Accessibility
This Meijer in Cincinnati is at exit 8 on I-71. If you are northbound, it is about 1 mile from the exit, and southbound it is about 1.5 miles. The charging dispensers are in the middle of the parking lot between the Meijer and the Target. The pull-up/back into stalls are clearly marked. The EVSE placement does not allow for pull-through parking.
Amenities
Dining options include: IHOP, Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane’s
Shopping options include: Meijer, Target, At Home
Car-related services (windshield cleaning, air): Kroger Fuel Center is 0.3 miles away
Concentration
This Electrify America location offers up 6 charging dispensers. Based on the usage while I was at this site, it seems like these 6 units are the minimum amount needed in this location. This station is the pull/back into configuration, which would make charging with Elektra’s front port location easy, but those with fender locations may need to stretch the cables to make the connections. I had to back into the spot due to the Polestar’s charging port location.
Location
This site supporting I-71 is 11 miles from downtown Cincinnati. This site can support travel to Columbus, Indianapolis, Louisville, and Lexington and provides coverage for the southwest corner of Ohio.
Speed
Electrify America has chargers that support the fastest speeds available today. The sites support both 350kW and 150kW stations and are well equipped to handle the current electric cars and those yet to come. These new Signet charging units should work well into the future supporting many more road trips.
Summary
The 6 units here seemed very busy and the 10 stall Tesla Supercharger is already in the process of being expanded to double the stalls. Outside temperatures were climbing and even with 100-degree temperatures, the Polestar was able to achieve peak charging speeds of 150kW, impressively adding 13% of the battery in just a little over 5 minutes.
What I paid for this stop:
Total Cost: $3.96
Total kWh: 11.592
Time: 5 minutes 26 seconds
Average Charge Speed: 126 kW
Cost per kWh: $0.34
